Insanely warm spring so far. Had a few days of snapping back into more typical March weather / temps, but looks like good weather and warmer temps in the forecast. Access to Hot Creek / Upper Owens is great, with some muddy patches to avoid when driving out to the water on the Upper. Hot Creek has some snowmelt kicking flows up a bit, which sends a lot of food through the water column, and spreads the fish out. You might luck into a bwo hatch out there somedays around 1230. Upper O still has some big fish kicking around, but fishing pressure has been really hard on these guys. I’d go explore and cover water away from the usual spots to find some beautiful bows that haven’t been so pressured. Attractor nymphs fished deep, and maybe a caddis or bwo dry if you see fish rising. Lower O flows are fluctuating a bit, but 220 cfs or so as of yesterday, and fishing well. Still a good chance of a mayfly hatch midday, and otherwise fun nymphing with small mayfly and caddis wet flies. Lot’s of options, and more to come in a few weeks!
